The afternoon of August 21st, the moon will make its way between the earth and the sun, hitting its peak eclipse time around 2:27 pm EST. Eclipses are ways for the Universe to help get your soul back on track. In our human experiences, our egos can get in our way and we get off course, distracted by the many things in life. Think of this eclipse as a SUPER CHARGED new moon. The time between the full moon lunar eclipse and this new moon solar eclipse, we find ourselves moving through a portal of energy. This end side of the portal we must choose to move through to find real transformation. The sun and the moon come together, and a brave, warrior energy revolutionary with inspiration will come through! This is the time to close a chapter in your life for good, to see what you have learned up until this point and how you can move forward from this point on. Find a comfortable seat and enjoy this solar eclipse meditation to work towards your best self.
Enjoy an MP3 recording of the meditation here Imagine yourself inside a portal of energy, a spinning vortex that tunnels both behind you and as well as in front. Behind you all the things that no longer serve you. What do you look back upon that you are ready to fully release? What can you pull from the root so you are sure it is never to return? Anything you sense may be holding you back from being your best self now has permission to let go, allow it to lift up from your being and float into the cosmos. As you face a new beginning before you, you now have space to fill with what your heart desires. What seeds to you wish to plant in place of what you removed? What lights you up, and makes you feel like the person you’ve always wanted to be? Now is the time to move through this energy shift, emerging on the other side with warrior energy, determination and strength. Sit within this portal, surrounded by its energy, safe and protected. Take the time to contemplate your trajectory in your own evolution, which direction will it take you? Musings for the Meditation: (to contemplate or journal) 1. Do you feel any remaining obstacles or resistance to creating the life that you want? Can you till the soil of your mind to uncover the deep-rooted beliefs that are holding you back? 2. When you think of your ultimate or true self what words come to mind? 3. Can you picture in your mind’s eye what your ultimate self looks like? How does it make you feel?

Well this super-charged month of transformation is upon us....are you ready for what it's about to bring? With two eclipses this month, a full moon lunar eclipse followed by a new moon solar eclipse we are being presented with an auspicious opportunity for a full cosmic reboot. While astrology is not my strong suit, research is. So while I'll not spend this article talking about your sign or what houses the eclipses fall in, I've done the research and have you covered on what to expect and how to use these energies coming forth this month. Eclipses are a time of change and transformation, as are the beginning and end of a lunar cycle. Typically the time of the full moon is a peak time for emotions and manifestation, as well as a time to let go of what's no longer working. The new moon is our reflection time and a time to plant new seeds and set new intentions. The moon is our 'inner world' and emotions (yin energy), the sun is our 'outer world', our actions (yang energy). Lost yet? Stay with me. Before we get to the nitty gritty on what to expect, let's take a moment for a little Eclipse 101. Here's the basic breakdown of lunar and solar eclipses. What is an eclipse? An event that involves 3 celestial bodies and their relationship in position to each other; the sun, the moon and earth. Lunar Eclipse: An event that happens at night when the earth passes between the moon and the sun. This event is safe to watch with the naked eye. Solar Eclipse: An event that happens during the day when the moon passes between the earth and the sun. This is NOT safe to view with the naked eye as it can cause serious damage. (see where to get your solar eclipse viewers below) Ok, now that we have the basics down, let's explore what can expect with these two celestial events. Eclipses are ways for the Universe to help get your soul back on track. In our human experiences our egos can get in our way and we get off course, distracted by the many things in life. And as Yasmin Boland of Moonology put it, 'these two eclipses act as a portal to a new existence, it's whether or not we choose to go through it or not!' It's important to remember the energy at the time of an eclipse can be 'solidified in the air' on Earth, and this energy can be felt for 3-6 months after the eclipse. The heightened energies being put forth can begin to be felt 2-3 days before the eclipse, so it's important to pay attention and be mindful of our thoughts and actions. Let's start with the full moon lunar eclipse to happen on Monday August 7th. This heightened time of energy will work as a SUPER PURGE to ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. Don't fight the change and don't fear the clearing process! The glow during this lunar eclipse will work to illuminate all that is not working in our lives, a time to really see and accept what we need to let go of. So take this time to look at yourself square in the eye, be real, be honest, and get to the raw underbelly of your emotions. Let go of any resistance and consciously work to release what's been holding you back from your true or SOUL purpose. The color of the lunar eclipse can vary, and this all depends on the amount of dust in the atmosphere. Color of the eclipse can be changing shades of gray, dark brown, to gorgeous and fiery red or orange. From what I've found it's said that we will not be able to view the lunar eclipse from North America, but you know I'll still be outside doing my work! Click here to download my lunar eclipse musing and meditation sheet to use during the eclipse! Now it's time for the new moon solar eclipse to take place just two weeks later on Monday August 21st. Times for the maximum view of this event vary depending where you are in the world. If you're in Detroit as I am, the count down and beginning is at 1:00 pm and the max view of eclipse is around 2:27 pm. This event will end 3:47 pm EST, so it lasts for almost 4 hours! The event has a larger energetic effect on us as well as other animals, plus cool effects to really pay attention to. So to begin, think of this eclipse as a SUPER CHARGED new moon. This is the end side of the portal we must choose to move through to find real transformation. The sun and the moon come together, and a brave, warrior energy revolutionary with inspiration will come through! This is the time to close a chapter in your life for good, to see what you have learned up until this point and how you can move forward from this point on. This can also been seen as a disruption in energy flow, so be aware of how you are feeling. Hyper-awareness can emerge and it can be confusing to some, so stay connected to your intuition. And here are some really cool things to look for during the solar eclipse. Remember, you can NOT safely look at the eclipse without proper eye wear, I ordered my eclipse viewing glasses here.
Well, there you have it. My breakdown on what to expect during these two rare events that could very well change your life! And to make it extra interesting, Mercury goes retrograde in between it all on Saturday August 12th! But that's a whole other discussion.......Join me in my Goddess Session on Thursday August 31st to discuss our experiences with the eclipses and discuss what Mercury in Retrograde means and how to work with it properly. Good luck and God speed, lovlies. See you on the other side of the portal!
Many Blessings, Akasha Rae Resources: www.moonconnection.com www.darkstarastrology.com www.moonology.com www.educateinspirechange.org www.siddhayoga.com Every month we get a change for a fresh start, a clean slate. When we sync our energy with nature we can follow the path of least resistance and learn to go with the flow as oppose to pushing against the tides. The moon controls the tides of the oceans, and since we are made up of mostly water it’s said the moon has a tremendous effect on us as well! The full moon is the height of the lunar cycle, where things come into fruition, built up energy comes to a climax, emotions can run amuck if we aren’t careful. Tremendous yet subtle power is coming at us even if we aren’t aware, so positive intentions are key! Whatever we put out we get back amplified. This transformative time of the month is a time to let go of what no longer serves us and make room for change in our lives. A time to detox, not only physically but mentally and emotionally. Old thought patterns, self-sabotage, toxic or negative beliefs or people can be obstacles for bringing into our lives what we want. Challenging times teach us lessons. We must acknowledge and thank every lesson brought to us, good or bad. Find gratitude in it all then release what you no longer need to hold onto. Take the time of the full moon to do some internal work-reflect, forgive, find gratitude and release! Make room to manifest what you do want and stop giving energy to what you don’t. Keep it positive and remember your given a monthly opportunity to make real changes in the direction of your life. Musings for this Meditation: *What is keeping you from bringing what you want into your life? *What lessons have you learned? What can you acknowledge, honor and release? *What has worked for you this month? What has not worked? How can you make a positive shift to create what it is that you want? Have you ever had something or someone begin to show up everywhere and you didn't know why? Were you drawn to something in such a way you thought there may be more to it? Some say we receive messages from spirit in many ways; numbers, people, circumstances, or sometimes communicated through animals. If you start to see spiders every where, weaving their beautiful webs, spirit may be telling you to spark your creativity. See images of wolves wherever you go? You may need a lesson on finding direction, the importance of family or a need for solitude and freedom. Whether you see these animals in the flesh or represented in other ways you may be getting a message in the form of symbolism of what that animal represents. I was recently at one of my favorite thrift shops looking for lost treasure when I passed by a beautiful brass camel. She caught my eye, and I kept walking. I passed by her again and she calmly waited, like she had a secret she needed to tell me. Not quite sure why, I knew I had to have her and scooped her up. I wan't familiar with what the camel represented so when I got her home, cleansed and polished I placed her on my altar and did some research. And oh my Goddess did I need to hear this message! The camel carries much on their backs, and in their tidings. Survival, strength, self- sufficiency. Their quiet disposition and ability to conserve energy teaches us the importance of slowing down to enjoy the journey. When life gets hectic and busy we must remember to look inside ourselves, not give away too much our own energy in the service of others. Self care is essential, and I was getting the message to sit back, take a break and relax! I reflected on what I needed, without a sense of selfishness or guilt. Our schedules don't always need to be full, and I've been learning to enjoy that white space; read a book, get a massage? Turn off the phone and yes, please! The camel is patient, stable, and committed to the long road ahead. She realizes it's the journey not the destination and holds a sense of calm and trust, ensuring the energy and protection needed for a long battle we may face or a path we may be walking. So in this time of existence, when we often hold a sense of accomplishment in being constantly engrossed in work or projects, we must remove our busy-blinders and stop to look around. We could be missing important lessons from those trying to guide us in this life and connect to us from spirit. Messages from spirit & ancestors are all around you-be present, slow down and enjoy the ride or you will miss them..... If you've come to any of my Modern Goddess meetups then you know how in love I am with my monthly subscription to Moonbox where I get my monthly supply of magickal tools and teachings. They are great to expand your knowledge of different tools of the trade and they send you the theme for the month, based on energetic shifts, moon phases or other topics. This month was a Storm Moon Box shifting into new energies with the coming of spring.
My box including a white sage stick dipped in Dragon's Blood resin, great for super charging your cleansing and the releasing of negativity. A beautiful red quartz stone to promote creativity, orange peel and thyme, and cinnamon sticks for success, love and spirituality. An always breath-taking homemade sigil is included to focus your attention and intentions into. Sigils are signs or symbols designed with the lines of the words of your intention that are said to hold magical power. Carefully crafted bath salts are included to cleanse before your meditation or ritual, as well as homemade beeswax candles and essential oil blends to anoint your candles, your stones or yourself. These help to add even more elements into your practice. A pre-written mantra is included to recite during your meditation for a focused direction or you may create one yourself. It's important to keep a book to write down your rituals to return to when you need them, it's like a recipe book for life! Incorporate any other elements that speak to you such as tarot for added inspiration. But my favorite additions to my collection are my Besom broom and power pyramid. Besom brooms are brooms made with sprigs or bundles of twigs. This special broom was made with baby's breath and dons a precious citrine stone. The broom is used to clear the energy, cast a circle and bring about new blessings of the spring. The power pyramid is lovely and opens in the front to add stones, written intentions or other objects to put your energy into. Holding your hand over the items in the pyramid is said to add a potent dose of your energy and intention into them. Check out my tools of the trade page to see what else you can incorporate to your practice. Working with these tools to shake off the remaining dust of winter help to renew my energy help and put my intentions into motion. The importance and significance of ritual in your daily routine can give you empowerment in your sense of direction and what you want to attract into your life. Elemental magic is as old as time, working to harness the raw potential and energy of the Earth's oldest elements, such as earth, air, fire and water. You can incorporate the elements on your altar with stones, crystals, candles, incense, herbs, flowers, water and more. Awaken the energy in you to manifest your best you, every day! Whether you are just starting out with ritual, meditation and manifestation or want new inspiring tools for your practice I highly recommend Moonbox to introduce you to some transformational tools! It may not fee like it, but spring is almost upon us! Syncing up our lives and energy with the seasons helps us to take the path of least resistance. Like nature and the earth, we will be soon awakening from the slumber of winter. With the return of the sun the ground will be fertile, everything will move from a more passive energy to more active and new life will spring forth! So just as Mother Nature, her creatures and everything with roots get ready to bloom so shall we! Here are some ways to set up your Ostara altar for the coming of the Spring Equinox on Monday March 20th. Ostara means 'movement towards the rising sun'. Now the creative energy is strong, a time for balance, hope and warmth-a promise of warmer days to come. We can take this time to plant new seeds, both figuratively and literally. Start new projects and breath new life into what you want to drive into the new season. To read more check out the Celebrate Spring page here. Set up your spring altar, here are some tools:
The definition of invocation is the action of invoking something or someone for assistance or as an authority, also the summoning of a deity. Often times in life we find ourselves seeking guidance; for reassurance, divine strength, healing, courage or fiercelessness. To do our own inner work we must sometimes call upon the quiet wisdom of the ones who came before us. The resonance of their grace lives all around us, in the trees, the moon, the stars. Through presence and intention we can call upon the Original Goddesses, those who throughout history have inspired, nurtured, captured hearts and destroyed fears. Whether these woman come from mythology, folklore, ancient tales or lived not so long ago they embody aspects we carry within ourselves. We can beseech them or gently call for guidance, drawing in their essence to awaken our own power. When you find yourself challenged and not sure where to turn, see which version of the Goddess you can call upon. Perhaps Lakshmi for prosperity, or Flora for fertility, Tara for liberation and protection or Kuan Yin, the Goddess of mercy. These deities and Goddesses serve to empower us; to allow us to draw in strength and direction for our lively endeavors or the healing of our souls. When you sit down for meditation, ritual or invocation choose your inspiration and write their name down or place a picture on your altar. Connect to the divine essence of which you seek, and allow the magic to happen. Know that there is always the Divine essence and goddess light within you, they are here to simply help you find it. Blessings, love and light lovely ladies. Join us February 20th, 2017 for our next meetup to get an introduction the 'original O.G.s'. Learn and discuss some of the most inspirational women of history and lean a ritual for the moon goddess. Plus take home a new moon ritual a time to plant seeds and set intention. Space is limited, learn more here. As 2016 comes to a close, many of us are thinking the same thing-Thank God! (Or, Goddess, Buddha, Ganesha, the Heavens). This whirlwind of a year has brought many things; along with whatever good, it was also the year of much loss, anxiety, confusion and the biggest shake up this country or world has seen in a while. As we cut our losses and work to shake off the dejection of the past 12 months, there are simple ways to find empowerment and ease into the fear of the unknown. We had the recent passing of the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. This was a time to sync up with Mother Nature, reflect over our year, and release what no longer serves to create space for new adventure and abundance into our lives. When we reconnect with nature, sync with her seasons and her elements we can then create our own future; find the path of least resistance and take back perhaps a little bit of control over our lives. I'm talking intention and manifestation time! With the busyness of current society it’s easy to see why so many of us feel out of control and victims to the chaos around us. That’s why this year we must pull back on the reigns, wipe the filters from our eyes and for one, just breathe. If we begin with meditation then there’s half of the control. To close your eyes and tune into the sensations of your breath you alone can soothe the central nervous system, release tension and that sometimes sharp, reactive thinking. Meditation give us the power to be the calm center; the eye of the storm that is the chaos around us. I’ve meditated in many spaces including my office before a presentation or teaching a class and even the Secretary of State. You don’t need to have your eyes closed and tune out the entire world, you simply need mindfulness and peace will follow. Meditation can be about being content while being completely present and aware of the world around you. As little as 5 minutes a day can be enough to release stress, increase focus and set intention for your day. Create an altar space in your home, somewhere you can be alone if possible. Here you can gather all you need for working with the elements and working with manifestation and setting intensions. My space often includes stones and crystals for healing & grounding. Mother Nature's healers, crystals and stones hold vibrations and have qualities that can help to enhance health. We are naturally receptive to the healing qualities of these Earthly elements and they can work to balance blockages of the body, mind & spirit. Use these in rituals for health, wellness, prosperity and more. I also use inspiring words or photos, candles and sage or Palo Santo for cleansing negative energy. Draw a tarot card if you find you need direction in a situation or somewhere to put your focus. Here’s a little ritual that’s easy to put together for the New Year to set positive intensions and direction. Set up your space and gather your tools. 1. Pick your stones- My favorite three stones for this ritual would be Hematite, Moonstone and Obsidian. You may set these on your altar or hold in your hands. Hematite is great for grounding, protection, and bringing harmony to body, mind and spirit Moonstone is for new beginnings, reflection and intuition Obsidian offers support in growth, deep soul healing, shields from negativity, and very powerful in releasing/absorbing emotions 2. Clear the space- Grab a bundle of sage or a stick of Palo Santo to cleanse negative energy. If you have a small bell set that near you as well. 3. Get your photos, either of family, friends or create a vision board of what you would like your upcoming year to look like. 4. Create your Mantra-Decide whatever your personal mantra or intention is for the year, write it down and set that on your altar as well. Gather anything else inspiring and set that in your space as well. 5. Grab your candles and your oils- You can use different colored candles for different meanings, or I like to use white as a universal and put my intention into it. If you have essential oils, anoint your candles before you light them; a lemongrass oil to balance, uplift and calm or Sandalwood for good fortune, protection and success are two good choices. Settle into your space with your tools around you. Offer yourself a meditation to tune into your breath, get centered and release tension. Set your photos, mantra and anything else you'd like on your altar space, then anoint and light your candles. Take time to take inventory over your past year, see what has worked, what has not. What old belief systems have been holding you back? What projects lead you in the wrong direction this year? What relationships no longer serve? Start to find a release process with your breath to let go of the old; imagine creating space in and all around you to release and let go. Take as much time as you need, then continue by lighting your sage or Palo Santo and smudge your room and yourself; you may extend out to the entire house if you'd like to do a house cleansing or blessing for the new year. I like to use my hands to literally sweep the old energy off of me; a cracked window will draw the old energy out and allow fresh air to come in. When finished ring your bell to 'ring out the old'. Sit in meditation with your mantra and envision what you wish to manifest for the upcoming year. Envision and feel all that you want to draw to yourself, and see it as though it was already here. Draw that intension into aspect of your being.....and like cultivating a seed to sprout nourish that intension and let it grow. When you feel complete and full of new direction for the year, ring your bell to 'ring in the new'. Allow a deep cleansing breath to set your intension out into the Universe, ready to come back into fruition when it's ready. Live well, love well, be well. Namaste. As summer nestles down into a slumber and we get that first rush from a cool breeze, something happens and we begin to shift our energy. Whether we realize it or not, we follow Mother Nature’s lead and sync with her circadian rhythms. She has spent the last season on fire reaching a height of growth and fertility, celebrating the power of the sun. Our energy matched hers, spending time outdoors and enjoying all she has to offer. Some of us may have even celebrated the Summer Solstice by offering 108 Sun Salutations with the rising of the sun. Longer days prevailed, and now they have begun to wane. Longer, regenerative nights lie ahead-and we need to take advantage and set our intentions to match hers. At the Autumn Equinox we hit a complete balance of light vs. dark, and have now just fallen past that tipping point. Now that we’ve burned off that fiery energy of the sun we can begin to shift to a more reflective, cooling energy of the moon. A season of letting go, we begin to settle under a blanket of reflection to see what hasn’t worked in our lives. Reaping the harvest of our past few months of hard work and investments, it’s time to till the soil and release what didn’t pan out. Our lives mirror the seasons, and if we align our energies properly with can work with the cycles instead of against them. So as the world is set ablaze with the colors of the fall, here are 6 ways to align your energy with Mother Nature and find magic this season: 1. Let it go Use the elements of Mother Nature to let go of what no longer serves you. Allowing for contemplation, autumn is a time to turn inward for deeper self-healing and take a look at all we’ve worked to build. What do we need to work on? What didn’t work, and we can release? Create your own ritual of letting go. You can write down what you wish to release, toss the paper in to a fire (only safe practices here, a fire pit or other means of outdoor burning) and watch it turn into ash and disappear. You may also bury the list into the dirt and allow it to be consumed by the Earth Herself. Perform these rituals under the full moon to enhance their effects. Gather a sage bundle or smudge stick, used in purification and protection, to cleanse your home of negative energies. You may also use Palo Santo, wooden sticks made from a mystical tree in South America, found in some metaphysical shops. Related to Frankincense and Myrhh, this ‘Holy Wood’ helps to cleanse home and energy, enhance creativity and enhance immunity. 2. Protection Yourself & Your Home Every fall we gather beautiful chrysanthemums to adorn our home with beautiful colors of the fall. But did you know these are known to be flowers of protection? When we get closer to Halloween then the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest this flower is said to keep the evil spirits at bay. Red mums offer love, yellow & orange bring joy & good cheer, purple represent power & passion, white invokes the truth & bronze encourages a loving, happy home. Gather your mums to create a happy, healthy environment for your pets and your family. You may also set out stones of amber for added protection. 3. Make a Feast! Gather friends and family to celebrate this time of harvest. Foods of the season include root veggies such as beets, potatoes and carrots, nuts, breads, corn, figs, honey, as well as apples which are said to be a most magical fruit! Pomegranate and its seeds are related to Greek Goddess Persephone and her return to the underworld every fall season. Cider, beer, wine and mead can be added to the table as loved ones offer gratitude and reflection during this celebratory time. 4. Set Up Your Meditation Altar Create your space to align your energy with the shift in seasons. The colors yellow, orange, red and brown set the tone for autumn and the changing of the leaves as they work to let go and prepare for winter. Some elements to adorn your altar include: candles, herbs of ivy, myrrh and sage, cloves, cinnamon, and stones of amber and hematite to offer protection and grounding. Add photos of loved ones and what holds gratitude in your heart, or write down a mantra you can return to every day during this shift. Offerings of fresh cut flowers, honey and mead can add another element to invoking the creative and nurturing side of nature. 5. Keep a Gratitude Journal Listen to the transition, journal and prepare for self-healing and reflection. You find you can sense, feel and become one with the change happening all around you. Once you’ve released what you no longer need you are more able to sit back and look at all that you have. Cultivating gratitude is very powerful and has a tremendous effect on your over-all health and well-being. You may choose to journal outside in nature, sitting under an oak or maple tree to connect with their energy and wisdom. This is also a nice ritual to be before you go to bed at night. Begin with some light yin yoga poses to offer the cooling energy of the moon and set a reflective and restorative tone for your journaling. 6. Seva-The Art of Selfless Service When we cultivate gratitude we see all that we have, but may also become aware of what many do not. Take this time to practice the art of Seva, or selfless services. Offer to volunteer at a nursing home or hospice, bring offerings and your kindness to the homeless or disabled veterans. Offer some free classes or services to those who may otherwise not be able to afford such things. Join together communities and help to offer gratitude and self-healing to others and match the nurturing side of Mother Nature during this time. Mother Nature has all that we need readily available at our fingertips, we simply need to know how to apply it and connect with her energy for transformation and change. So let’s work with the currents of the Earth and find a ride with them into beautiful alignment, peace and well-being. Bring a little magic back into your life this fall and nurture your mind, body and spirit. Namaste. Kali. Or Kali Ma to others. She isn't your average Hindu God, oh no. She is the bad ass Mother of Demons, first of her name. The goddess of time, creator of change. The Queen of destruction and preservation she is the breaker of chains to our ego and the liberator of all men. And yes, if you are following my Game of Thronesreferences she too was born of fire, but to devour blood. I'd like to tell you a story of Kali Ma. She is Enlightenment herself, a mother of tough love meant to lead us to find true transformation & release our pre-conceived notions of who we think we are or think we should be so that we may find Moksha, or liberation. She is the powerful, hungry feminine who wears a string of skulls around her neck and a skirt of severed arms. She wears infants for earrings and carries a severed head in one of her 4 arms and a sword in another. But we'll get back to that. First we'll begin the story of how she came to be. It's a plot fit to be in a popular HBO series, but much fiercer and with greater reward. She was born during a battle between the Gods & the Titans. Durga, the Mother of the Universe rode into battle on the back of a lion to slay many demons & the Asura King. However, every time one of her 10 weapons in her 10 hands ripped through his flesh, each drop of blood that touched the Earth created a clone of the king. Hundreds of replicas appeared as quickly as she wielded her swords. Feeling the crushing weight of defeat Durga did something out of desperation, frustration & anger. She emanated her most gruesome & compelling aspects of herself. And from her brow the Goddess Kali was born. Designed with a lust for blood and a cyclonic wrath, Kali worked to quench the demon fire that was sure to lay waste to the heavens. Her tongue reached for every drop of blood that hit the ground; devouring the army of kings & eventually the king himself, restoring peace among the Gods. So. Earning her bragging rights on slaying demons and killing kings, Kali continues to live on offering us peace by bestowing comfort and wisdom with the protective fury of a mother for her children. So lets get back to that skirt. Her appearance can be construed as frightening but has much more meaning than death and destruction and straight up slaying everything in her path. Her face is often depicted as dark blue or even black, representing the vast darkness in which the universe was created and which will be its eventual destruction. Her goal is to protect us from evil & release us from our egos which ultimately come from our connection to our physical body. It's said that one can only reach liberation when there is a release of the attachment to our physical form and we connect with our true eternal self. Death. Transformation. Liberation. So the skulls and body parts represent her trophies in victory for liberating her children from their ego through knowledge. In one hand she holds the Sword of Truth, the other a severed head dripping blood. This represents destruction of the ego through knowledge. Her tongue is out ready to lap up the blood of those slained, ready to kill some demons. Her breasts are bountiful and her womb fertile. A true nurturing mother who will do anything to protect her children. Her many strengths include her compassion & ability to consume. She is the essence of life. When we find ourselves in battle with inner demons or challenges of the world we can invoke our inner Kali, draw in a fiery fierceness to stand up to our demons and fight. The ability to absorb into yourself or consume your enemy allows you to fully own your fear. To experience it, know it, and eventually move toward peace and resolution. But don't misunderstand to assume engaging in confrontation. Our internal strength is used to understand and slay what lays waste to our eventual liberation. Confrontation only breeds more aggression and conflict. So when you're up for battle remember this mantra: Om Krim Kalikayai Namah.... I bow my head to the Goddess Kali, Mother of Demons, First of her name. The Queen of destruction and preservation she is the breaker of chains to our ego and the liberator of all men.
